1.2.   What are Article Processing Charges in the SJUOZ?

·  Like other Open Access publishers, SJUOZ charges an Article Processing Charge once an article is accepted for publication. These charges cover the costs of turning a manuscript into a finished, professionally prepared article. SJUOZ is committed to transparency, and all fees are clearly displayed on the journal’s homepage.

·     When a manuscript is submitted, it passes through several stages and departments at SJUOZ:

1.2.1.  Editorial Screening Team: Performs initial technical and ethical checks.

1.2.2.   Editorial Team: Helps academic editors manage the peer review process.

1.2.3.   Production Team: Converts the manuscript into a professionally typeset article and structured XML.

1.2.4.   Proofreading Team: Coordinates the proofreading process via the SJUOZ Online Proofreading System.

1.2.5.   Editorial Quality Assurance Team: Ensures the manuscript and review process follow the journal's policies.

1.2.6.   Marketing & Communications Team: Promotes the article to ensure it receives wide visibility.

1.2.7.   Technology Team: Builds and maintains the journal’s systems.

1.2.8.   Article Processing Charge: The APC for the Science Journal of University of Zakho is IQD 200,000. For accepting paper Starts from June 2026.

1.3.   Why These Fees?

·         Due to the high costs associated with operating and maintaining our journal’s website, as well as the continuous need for system updates to maintain service quality, a fee of IQD 200,000 is charged per published article. These fees support:

§  Professional English language editing (grammar, spelling, and academic writing style).

§  Formatting of the manuscript to match the journal’s standards, including text, tables, and figures.

§  Production and final output preparation to ensure high visual and technical quality.

·         These efforts help researchers and academics present their work at the highest standard and contribute effectively to scientific advancement.

1.4.   Waiver Policy

·         At SJUOZ, we recognize that some institutions may have limited funding for research and publication. Therefore, we provide a waiver system to help ease the payment of manuscript handling fees. Our mission is to accelerate the dissemination of knowledge through high-quality research publication, without placing unnecessary financial pressure on researchers or their institutions.

·         Authors may apply for a waiver under the journal’s waiver policy, which aims to support researchers while maintaining the quality and sustainability of the journal.
